My name is Jesse McLean and I am a teacher at Greystone Centennial Middle School in Parkland School Division in Spruce Grove, Alberta.
I recently returned to the classroom after a year as an assistant principal, A change made necessary after accepting a head coaching position working with the King’s University Men’s Basketball team. In addition to those changes I also got married a year ago in August and we recently bought a house. It has been a very interesting year to say the least.
A lot of excitement going on, I know, and I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed a more exciting time in my career than in the last year. I was turned on to Twitter, and then to the idea of PLN’s and in one year I have had my eyes opened to a world of brilliant minds ready to share and discuss education. It has been an amazing experience.
So it brings me to this blog, my own attempt to share, and my attempt to join the party. I hope I can offer something to the mix, because I sure have taken a great deal away from it.

Hi Jesse,
I’m looking forward to following you on your journey. As a former Albertan, who moved to Manitoba only a year ago, I too am on a journey. I just started my first principalship after 6 years as a vice principal. Nice to meet you. Are you still twittering? I’m just beginning to develop an online presence as an administrator. You can follow me on twitter as scottjantzen.
Best of luck on this new year.
Jesse,
I think we share some common thoughts and experiences. I am a new principal (13 days and the schol is still standing) and beginning my adventure with twitter and blogging.
I welcome you to my PLN and look forward to reading more of your posts.
Good to have you aboard Kyle, where in BC are you working?
Hi Jesse,
Great post! With the growth of iPad uses in schools I am looking to build (in my spare time) an app to help teachers utilize the iPad more efficiently. Theres a lot of things I am thinking about so might be a bit too much to post here but would it be possible to talk to you over the phone or email? I would like to get your perspective on what problems need to get solved.
Thanks,
George.
